India: Young Bhangra
Established in 2012, Young Bhangra is dedicated to connecting people with the vibrant roots of Punjabi culture. Through high-energy performances, they create unforgettable multicultural experiences for the public. Prepare to be captivated by the traditional rhythms and joyful spirit of their celebration.
China: Shine Dance & Lady Club
Shine Dance & Lady Club is one of Calgary’s largest and most influential Chinese adult dance clubs. Founded in 2016, the club offers a sanctuary for professional women to find work-life balance and express their love for dance, promoting a happier, healthier lifestyle. They act as a cultural bridge, sharing the beauty of Chinese artistic traditions through classical and folk dance.
Japan: YOSOCA
As Calgary’s first Yosakoi team, YOSOCA brings the lively spirit of Japanese festival dance to Canada. Founded in 2017, their performances are a dynamic showcase of colorful costumes, naruko clappers, and high-energy choreography. YOSOCA blends traditional rhythms with modern expression to share the pure joy of dance and community with every audience.
Indigenous Canada: Victoria Koski
Victoria Koski is a Cree woman from Sucker Creek First Nation and a Women’s Traditional Powwow Dancer. Deeply rooted in her cultural practices and ceremonies, she is a powerful voice for Indigenous traditions in Treaty 8 territory. Through her work and her dance, Victoria fosters cultural connectivity and shares the rich heritage of her community.
